The Chobey Badgio Band

About the Band

Chobey Badgio: Lead Guitar and Vocals

Who are your main influences?

Jimi Hendrix, The Band, The Black Crowes, Eric Clapton, Led Zeppelin, The Goo Goo Dolls, R.E.M.

How would you describe your musicianship?

I'm the unorthodox musician.  I'm a rock n' roller.  I like to wear my guitar low, and I like to play mean and loud.  By no means am I a trained musician - I taught myself just about everything I know.  When I'm up on stage in front of a crowd, I play what I feel, no matter how crazy I may get!

What is your favorite song that you've written?

I really love Durango because the crowd gets absorbed into it.  The dynamics in that song are great - it will be soft and pretty in the beginning, and all of a sudden it feels like a sonic train traveling at 100 miles an hour hit you!

Nick Badgio: Bass, Vocals and Assorted Beards

Who are your main influences?
Chobey Badgio, R.E.M., The Band, underground punk rock, Toots & Maytals, Pearl Jam, the Old 97

How do you energize yourself before every gig?

I imagine that each gig is my final performance.  And I want to end on a good note!

Who would you love to tour with?
Believe it or not, I would love to tour with some big indie label bands.  My first choice would be the Old 97s!  Grace Potter and the Nocturnals would be great too. Oh, REM.  Yes, REM would be great.

Greg Savoie: Drums and Hitting things with Sticks

Who are your main influences?
Sean Savoie (aka Big Brother) continues to inspire me with his drumming prowess and his deep understanding of the groove.  I'm influenced by every drummer who lays down the groove and makes music feel righteous.  I trend to add some jazz sensibilities to my style.  I strive to bring the audience into the music.  For me, Its all about the Groove!

What is it like to play with such young talented musicians?

Exciting!  It is the highlight of a lifetime of playing drums.  The raw talent and creativity astounds me.  Music flows from Chobey and Nick like a stream of consciousness.   Chobey is constantly writing new songs and they are all excellent and different.  They are on an insane learning curve and keep getting better and better!  I'm old enough to appreciate the magic that is occurring ... and young enough to keep up (so far!).

What is this journey all about?
Creating music and performing live.  There's nothing quite like live music.  No two performances are ever the same (especially when you perform with Chobey).   We feed off the crowd and go where the music leads us.  At the end of the night, I wish we had one set left in us!  I don't want it to end!  We want to perform music and connect to the crowd.  We want to share the music we are creating. That is what it is all about for me.  Bring on the next gig!
